Medical microneedling uses a controlled needling treatment to support improvements in skin texture, tone and overall skin quality. It may be considered for concerns such as dullness, uneven texture, fine lines or selected scarring, depending on your skin and the cause of the concern.
Microneedling uses a sterile medical device with fine needles to create controlled microchannels in the skin. This stimulates the body's wound-healing response and increases your body's collagen production. The treatment will be tailored to the area, your skin and your skin concerns.
Depending on your skin, medical microneedling may be considered for dullness, uneven texture, fine lines, enlarged pores, selected pigmentation concerns and some scarring. I will assess your skin before deciding whether it is appropriate.
I will make the treatment as comfortable as possible, explain the sensation before we begin and discuss whether topical numbing is appropriate. You can ask questions or pause at any point.
Redness, warmth, tightness, sensitivity or mild swelling can happen afterwards. The amount of downtime depends on the treatment and the depth used. We will discuss this and the aftercare in depth before treatment so you can plan properly.
A course may be suggested for some concerns, but I will explain the reason for it and what is realistic before you commit to more than one appointment.

What does microneedling help with?
It may be considered for concerns such as uneven texture, dullness, fine lines and selected scarring. Your skin needs to be assessed first because the treatment is not suitable for every concern or every skin condition.
Does microneedling hurt?
Most people describe the sensation as manageable, but it varies. I will explain what you may feel and whether topical numbing is appropriate for the treatment being considered.
How many treatments will I need?
That depends on your skin and the concern being treated. I will give you an honest recommendation rather than assuming every client needs the same course.
Can I go back to work afterwards?
This depends on the treatment, the depth used and your skin. I will explain the likely redness and downtime so you can plan around it.
Can I have microneedling if my skin is sensitive?
Possibly, but I would need to assess your skin, current skincare and any active skin concerns first. We may choose a gentler treatment or postpone if that is safer.
Every treatment starts with an honest, unhurried assessment. If you're not sure this is the right one for you, a new client consultation is a good place to begin instead.
